Do I have some serious singers in my house!! So of course we are gaga over the animated movie SING! We are having a family night party to watch the movie, along with munching some darling microphone cookies, helping us “SING” along!
We’re partnered with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment for a fun movie night, as SING Special Edition is now available on Blu-ray & DVD. My girls already know most of the songs, we’ve been singing them ever since the movie came out, so this is a definite “SING”-along as we watch at home! We’ve been so inspired by the all characters. Each one has something unique about themselves and overcomes something to participate in the showcase. My personal favorite is Rosita, managing her household and family as well as pursuing her dreams! Both my girls love Meena for being so brave and overcoming her fears, and Ash for her sense of style and poetic songwriting.
We’re in love with these microphone cookies, aren’t they so cute?! I commissioned my sweet niece, Kendall, to bake and decorate them for us. She is just starting her cookie decorating business, so if you’re in the Seattle area let me know if you need some cookies!
To make and bake your own microphone cookies, here’s what you’ll need!
Supplies:
sugar cookie recipe or shortbread cookie recipe microphone cookie cutter silver sprinkles or silver sugar pearls would be fun too frosting – you can use any coloring you’d like to make your microphones, we chose silver to match the ones from the movie!
Bake your cookies according to the recipe. Once cooled, frost the cookies and add your sprinkles to the top circle, creating a sparkling sugar cookie microphone!
Now it’s time to sing! These cookies work great as actual microphones, Anna was singing her little heart out to “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing” right along with the elephant Meena!
