Baked Apple Galette
Galette is the rustic French version of the apple pie, made with French style pastry dough (a bit flaky) and folded over juicy fresh apples mixture with brown sugar and cinnamon. There is no pie pan required to bake a galette, any baking pan/ sheet will be perfect. No need to worry about the size of it, how perfectly round is and it can be made in mini sizes too.
Today I have decided to make a quick Apple Galette as I had a couple of extra Honey crisp apples on hand. You can choose any filling you prefer: apples, plums, nectarines…you can even go savory. It’s the perfect recipe for so many occasions. You don’t have to worry about making that so perfect looking apple pie anymore. To make this Apple Galette recipe there are only 3 steps:
Making the pastry/crust (if you are short on time, you can always use store bought puff pastry) Preparing the filling Baking the galette
If you want to make your own pastry, just mix flour with cold grated butter and a bit of water. Wrap in plastic the dough and allow to rest in the fridge for 1 hour. That easy! To serve this Apple Galette, drizzle some salted caramel sauce or chocolate sauce on top and add a scoop of ice cream too, if you prefer.
