And these are the perfect little packages for these DIY crochet scarves! As I needed something to put my little scarves in, I decided on a brown paper sack, but needed to spruce it up....

Homemade Memory Game

What’s more fun than playing a game? Making your own game! One of our favorite preschool games is Memory, the matching card game. My son usually plays the official version at Grandma’s house, but we don’t have that game at home. The concept is so simple that we decided to make our own with readymade stickers and cardstock. The stickers that come with many stickers to a sheet, with repeating images are ideal, like the ones sold in the education/teacher aisle at your local dollar store....

Make A Kid Friendly Terrarium

But let me back up a bit. What’s a terrarium, you say? A terrarium is a way of growing plants in an enclosed or partially enclosed container usually made of glass or plastic. It’s a bit like container gardening, but with glass containers. They have gone in an out of popularity since the 1800s, enjoying a particular hey day in the 1970s, and are again returning to popularity. They are easy to establish and make a wonderful craft for bored kids at home during the summer....

Miss Hunnicutt S Hat With Impress Your Kids

A few years ago one of my best friends (a teacher) gave me Miss Hunnicutt’s Hat by Jeff Brumbeau for a birthday gift. Now, why would an adult (even a teacher!) give another adult a picture book? Well, when your maiden name is Hunnicutt and someone happens to write a book about a character with that same name, you just gotta get it! But even if this book didn’t bear my maiden name, I’d still love it forever!...

My Green Thumb

Last year, I found these fun silver tin buckets at Home Depot. I hammered holes in the bottom and they became pots. Then I found this great wood barrel bucket and I drilled holes into the bottom of that to make it a pot as well. My garden was herbs in the tins and tomatoes in the wood barrel. My barrel did not have enough room for the tomatoes. They died after giving me about 8 tomatoes because the roots had no more room to grow....

Trick Or Treat Cookies

For the cookies in the pictures, I used half whole wheat flour and omitted the raisins (didn’t have any on hand). The only problem was that the dough was so tasty that we didn’t end up baking very many cookies. (Good thing I froze half of the dough for later!) This is a nice alternative to the normal sugar-laden cookie doughs. It’s lightly sweet. If that bothers you, load up on the frosting....
