Last summer, we started making a tangy and fruity iced tea that quickly became our favorite summer drink. I was inspired by a recipe from Lexie’s Kitchen and Living, who calls this drink “Cool-Aid.” Even my 10-year-old, who is not a fan of hot herbal tea, loves this drink. I try to keep a pitcher of water in the fridge and make sure it’s full....

Now is the perfect time to teach your teens to sew. Once they get the hang of it and realize how easy it is to create something new, they’ll be looking for more and more projects to take on. My son loves any of the Bear books by Karma Wilson. I think his favorite has to be Bear Wants More. He walks around quoting that one more than any of the others. All of the Bear books are written in a memorable rhythmic style and tell of the adventures of Bear and his friends. The sing-song pattern and repeating lines make it easy for children to finish the refrain....
The other morning I was chatting with some moms at soccer. One of them mentioned that her 9-year-old daughter had planned their meals that week and that it had gone very well. A light bulb went off in my head. I just need to get Cate involved with the meal planning!
