How Are You Peeling

We enjoyed reading this book, trying to figure out what feeling the fruit or vegetable was expressing. We talked about emotions and what they were, what kinds of things make us happy, sad, angry, or silly. This is a great book introducing feelings and how our faces look when we are mad or sad or happy. We couldn’t wait to celebrate this book. We went to the store and I let the kids pick out a few different produce items....

How To Make Layered Beaded Bracelets

How To Make Layered Beaded Bracelets I may not wear anklets, but I do have a little obsession with bracelets. I never remember to put earrings in my ears, I rarely remember to pop a necklace on, but I almost never leave the house without a selection of bracelets on my wrist. I love being able to mix and match different styles, designs, and colors to match my outfits. I know we don’t want to think about the holidays being just around the corner, but they are, and these would make perfect stocking stuffers....

How To Start Learning Primitive Stitchery

I then I moved on to other cross-stitch patterns, finding all I could cross-stitch. I came across this Bear pattern for my son when he was born and added it to a pillow I made for him. I love this sweet stitched bear! By the time I had started to master cross-stitching, I was turned on to a whole new world of stitching: Primitive Stitchery. Primitive Stitchery is embroidery that is more simple, straight lines, using muslin or another thin fabric, not having to use a pattern if you don’t want to....

If You Do Just One Thing For A Green Thanksgiving

Plan for leftovers: I even wrote and article about it. Buy local! We’ve talked about it, but so has everyone else! Go organic: too many to name but you could start here. Ditch the disposables: Come on, you know this! DIY centerpieces and table decor: I especially love these Turkey Table Favors But when I stumbled on this article from the Money section of US News, I had to share. Going green doesn’t need to be difficult; and it shouldn’t cost more....

Make A Beautiful Diy Porch Sign

Homes are so ‘friendly and approachable’ these days. We’ve gone front wreaths on the front door to so many people having large welcome signs next to their front door. I tend to be a little ‘extra’ though so decided to paint our own welcome sign that would be more of an art piece on our porch. This DIY project is easier to do than it looks and you don’t need a great big piece of white oak like we used, you can paint any piece of wood, or turn your current porch sign around and paint on the back of it....

Our Catalina Island Family Getaway

We started by boarding the Catalina Express, “a real live boat” as my daughter said! That was the first highlight of the trip. But just to warn you that if you’re the seasick type, you may want to go up front to look out at the horizon, right Jordan?! Then coming off the boat and walking up to the main streets of Avalon to our Hotel Atwater, I felt the rush and excitement of being on an island....
