This is the perfect crochet beginner project … take it from this beginner. My mum taught me to knit when I was little, but a few years ago she took a class in crochet, and sent me a pretty napkin that she’d crocheted an edge on, and then a scarf, and hats for the kids. If she could learn to crochet, then I could learn too. I want to add pretty crocheted edges to everything in the house now, from pillow cases, to table runners, napkins, and even more basket liners....

Paddington is a cute and cuddly, often times curious, little bear. Fans of the books will be excited to know that a new Paddington film is arriving in theaters everywhere this January 16th. Watercolor and Gauze Painted Jack O’ Lantern watercolor paper watercolor paints large paintbrushes rolled gauze colored construction paper glue scissors Cut the rolled gauze into strips the size of the paper. Wet the paper completely with plain water, and lay the gauze strips on top. Now, experiment with painting on the gauze! You can wet the gauze with water, then add watercolors on top. Or, try painting the gauze while it’s dry and using a wet brush to go over the paints and spread the colors around....

My kids love everything about the ocean. I’m not sure if it’s because we live in California and spend a lot of time at the beach, or whether it could be from visiting numerous aquariums. One of their many sea life books on their playroom bookshelf is See Under the Sea by Kate Davies. It explores the coral reefs, and dives deep down into the ocean to explore the creatures that live there, and as an added bonus, it’s a flap book, so kids get extra special surprises as they delve into the deep waters....

Saint Patrick’s day is celebrated on March 17th, and my three kids always make sure they wear green clothing to school. This year, we will start off dinnertime with this healthy, easy and very simple Saint Patrick’s Day Fresh Herb Dip. It’s a great way to get the kids to try fresh herbs such as basil and dill and to eat fresh vegetables.
