Recycled Baby Food Containers

I’ve usually put snacks into plastic baggies, but the snacks end up as crumbs getting crunched deep down in my bag. So these have been great, providing just enough snack for each of my kids, tiding them over on our trip at the store! (Can you guess which pureed baby food item was in the bottom right container? I’ll give you a virtual ‘high five’ if you guess right!)

Reindeer Ice Cream Sundaes

How to make: Reindeer Ice Cream Sundaes This cute little red-nosed reindeer sundae starts with a scoop of chocolate ice cream. Then, just add antlers, eyes, and a nose! Antlers: chocolate-covered or plain pretzel twists Eyes: 2 small squirts of whipped cream, topped with M&Ms or chocolate chips Nose: maraschino cherries or strawberries for nose Our ice cream was melting like crazy while we decorated, so I recommend scooping your ice cream into bowls, then popping them back in the freezer for a bit before decorating....

Repeating Mantras For Creative Healing

Mantras are a statement or phrase that is repeated over and over. It was originally found in Hinduism and Buddhism, but has been adopted by many other societies and cultures. It can be a prayer or a special word or phrase that can give you power, mentally and spiritually. Mantras are meant to be repeated and most of the time they are used with meditation. Recently I’ve been using a few mantras by simply calling them out at random times during my day, just when I’m feeling doubt or unworthiness creep in....

Toasty Fire Pit

I grew up with a real “hole in the ground” fire pit and couldn’t wait to get my own. Eventually, we’d love to make a pit in the ground too, but for now, this little portable fire pit is great. It keeps us toasty and roasts our dinner. I like to put all my supplies on a tray or jelly roll pan. Don’t forget the wet wipes for cleaning chocolaty s’more faces!...

Triangle Doodle Trees

There’s not much set-up (or clean-up!) with this project. Just download and print a stack of Doodle Tree Printables and grab some black pens. (Little ones might enjoy doodling with crayons instead.) Fill each triangle with a different pattern. We like looking at each others’ doodles for inspiration! When you are finished doodling, you could paint your tree with watercolors. Print your trees on watercolor paper or card stock. And, be sure to use a permanent marker (like a Sharpie) so it doesn’t run when you add the paint....

When Dinosaurs Came With Everything With Mama Smiles

The book When Dinosaurs Came With Everything by Elise Broach is a long-time favorite in our house, so I wasn’t surprised when six-year-old Emma picked it when I asked her to choose a book for a craft or activity! This whimsical story of a day when, instead of stickers or lollipops or balloons, children are handed real, live, full-size dinosaurs has captured the imaginations of my three oldest children – and it is a picture book that I am always happy to read, both for the story and David Small’s wonderful illustrations!...

Bringing In Holiday Cheer With Decorating And Traditions

In our family, we celebrate Christmas and begin the month long celebration by decorating our tree. The Christmas tree sets the mood for the rest of the month, our holiday wouldn’t be the same without it. My husband’s family, growing up each person received a new ornament every year. Jordan has saved them all, ever since he was a baby.
