Pumpkin Quinoa Breakfast

I love adding pumpkin to my oatmeal in the fall, so why not add it to quinoa? I cooked the quinoa on the stove and stirred in pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground ginger, and cloves. I added brown sugar for a little bit of sweetness and topped my bowl off with chopped pecans and dried cranberries. I had a healthy, comforting breakfast in no time. If you are looking for a new way to enjoy pumpkin this season, try this Pumpkin Quinoa recipe....

Recognizing My Emotions Surrounding Creativity

How can I keep creating and making when things are getting me down and I’m feeling unproductive, a bit like this… Creativity has always been a big part of me, ever since I was little, and I’m sure it always will be....

Sew A Fabric Yo Yo Stationary Card

I’ve always loved paper. Stationery, patterned paper, note cards, letterpress – I think paper is gorgeous and I love all of its different uses. More recently, I’ve been on something of a crafting binge – and for my last birthday I asked for a sewing machine. Much to my seamstress mother’s dismay, so far I’ve only used it to sew paper. Why? Because I decided my new sewing skills would look best when used in conjunction with my favorite supplies....

Smiling Snowman Envelopes

For this project, all you need are white envelopes with a pointed flap and something to draw with. We used crayons, but markers or colored pencils would work, too. Give your snowman two eyes and a carrot nose. It works best if you open the envelope while drawing on the flap. Draw a big smile for your snowman below the envelope flap. If you like, add a colorful scarf along the bottom of the envelope....

Spooky House Pop Up Cards

I chose to prep a bunch of paper houses and set them out for the girls to decorate. Older kids could certainly learn this simple technique and make their own pop-up houses. Here’s the simple how-to: Step 1: Start with a rectangle-size piece of card stock or watercolor paper. Fold your paper in half, like a card. Make two cuts on the fold to create a flap. This will be the base of your house....

What To Do With All Your Kid S Projects

At our house, we showcase their artwork and school work on the fridge. It’s right there where everyone can see, it makes the room colorful, and I love to see what they’ve accomplished. I also think it makes my kids feel proud of something they did and let’s them know I acknowledge their work. So we’ve created a little system on the refrigerator.
