Silly Long Straws Straw Wands

First flatten and pinch one end of the straw. Then it will fit into the next straw. Keep going until you have it as long and crazy as it will go. We like the flexible straws so they can make crazy turns. We also made some Straw Wands. Good ol’ McDonald’s Happy Meal has a punch out star that makes a wand with your straw. They loved it so much, casting spells with abracadabra, that we made some more....

Spruce Up Your Potluck Fruit Salad

Layer the salad and make it extra pretty. My kids went wild over the rainbow fruit salad pictured above. (Strawberries, raspberries, cantaloupe, pineapple, kiwi and green grapes, blueberries, purple grapes.) This probably goes without saying, but use fruit that’s in season whenever possible. Certain fruits are available all year long, but when they’re in season they taste better. Use more citrus in the winter and berries in the summer....

Your Toddler Will Love This Edible Finger Paint

Supplies for Edible Finger Paint: Plain yogurt Food coloring (I used gel food coloring) One of my favorite tricks for a toddler is to mix little cups of plain yogurt (or vanilla pudding) with a few drops of food coloring in each cup. You don’t need that much food coloring because when the yogurt dries, the color is actually darker on the paper than it is when it’s wet. Also, you don’t want the paint to be so dark that it stains the kid and whatever he touches....
