This pretty fall wall decor using children’s art is a fun collaborative project for parents and teachers to hang in the home or classroom. As a preschool teacher, I quite often have leftover art that the kids have made during free choice time that they put on the drying rack without bringing to me first to put their name on. At the end of the day when I ask who created the work, nobody can seem to remember. So, I collect these to make decorations for the classroom. For parents who has a child that brings home a lot of artwork, this is a wonderful way to repurpose their art.
How to make fall wall decor using children’s art
Supplies
Child’s art – can be paper with paint, crayons, markers, or pencils. Stick from the garden Fishing line Hemp cord Scissors Needle Tape Leaf template – picture, cookie cutter, stencil Crayon, paint, or marker
Instructions
You will need something to trace around so that all of your leaves are the same. I printed a picture from PicMonkey, but you could also trace around an actual leaf, use a cookie cutter, or a stencil.
Cut out all of the leaves. As you can see I used a combination of watercolor art, acrylic painting, and crayons on construction paper.
Using a crayon, paint, or marker, add the details for your leaf and set aside to dry.
Using a needle (or safety pin) poke holes in the top and bottom of your leaves. Thread fishing line through the holes, and hang them from the stick.
Note: I recommend laying out your paper leaves the way you want them to hang from the stick before you begin threading them together.
