We recently experimented over a couple of days with homemade face masks. We both experience break-outs, and decided to try a more natural alternative. After researching different products that were not only great for oily skin, but also for redness (which I experience) and larger pores, we tested a couple of different face masks. This one was by far our favorite:

Supplies:

2 tbs raw organic honey 1 tsp matcha powder A few drops of lemon A little egg white

Instructions:

Make sure to add these in order, otherwise the matcha doesn’t blend well. The first step is to add the 2 tablespoons of honey to a bowl.

Next, add the matcha powder. Stir to combine thoroughly. It will be very thick, but once the powder is combined add a couple of drops of lemon juice and that will smooth out your paste.

Now, here’s the trick with adding egg whites, the more you add, the more runny your face mask will be. The egg whites will firm up once on your face, but you want to add between 1/4 to 1/2 of the egg whites from one egg.

Apply the mask to your face using a clean makeup brush. Leave on for about 20 minutes, and then rinse off with warm water. Pat your skin dry gently with a towel.

Apply once a week. Your skin will feel amazing! According to the research I did, each of these products benefits the skin in its own way.

DIY Mask Benefits:

Matcha: reduces inflammation and redness, shrinks pores, and removes the oil from the skin Lemon: has antibacterial properties as well as brightening your skin Egg whites: help to shrink pores and tighten the skin Honey: it also has antibacterial properties, but also moisturizes the skin
