Simple crafts are best, and it turns out, this craft is great for toddlers to do! Contact paper is wonderful, and when kids get to hang their crafts up in the window, even better. This is a super-easy, no-mess craft, great for little ones and big kids alike!

We love making sun catchers and made simple ones using paper plates.

Supplies:

Clear Contact paper Paper Plate ( White or yellow) Yellow Markers or crayon. Tissue paper Construction Paper Scissors Stapler

Instructions:

I didn’t have a yellow paper plate, so I decided to paint a white one instead. Since I was cutting out the center, I just painted only the sides of an 8-inch paper plate yellow. You could use a sharpie, a kwik stiks or even crayons to paint.

Once the paint is dry, cut out the center carefully without cutting the sides. start by making a hole in the center, then pierce a scissor and start cutting carefully.

Place the paper plate on top of the contact paper. trace the inner circle and cut a circle that’s 1 inch larger in radius than the inner circle.  Cut out the contact paper.

Place the contact paper with the backing side up. Carefully peel the backing off and stick the contact paper to the center of the paper plate that you just painted. The sticky side needs to be at the back.  Cut small squares of colored tissue paper. Keep the paper plate upside down with the sticky side facing you.

Start covering your Sun shape with colored tissue paper squares or pieces. When your sun shape is completely covered with tissue paper, seal with another piece of clear Contact paper. For best results (less wrinkles and trouble), stick the cover sheet to one end and slowly smooth it down over the tissue paper.

Cut out larger triangles in construction paper for the sun’s rays. we cut 4 orange & 4 red triangles.

Using a stapler, staple each triangle in alternating colors around the sun. Add more triangles if required.

What better way to catch the sun’s rays than with this Easy Paper Plate and Contact-Paper Suncatcher Craft!

Tape your colorful sun in a window to brighten up a gloomy day.
