Baking Soda and Vinegar Rainbow Science
Simple science has been a huge hit at my house. The kids love the hands on learning experience they get from the science experiments. From my youngest to my oldest they all love the classic baking soda and vinegar science experiment! My kids range in age from 3-7yr. I really love watching my youngest with this science experiment because he has not done it as many times as my older two kids. The look on his face as all the fizzing started was priceless.
Supplies
baking soda white vinegar food coloring- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple small plastic cups measuring cup or pipettes are fun too plastic tray
Instructions
- Fill the measuring cup with white vinegar.
- We like adding a little dish soap to the vinegar sometimes. It makes more of a foaming fizzing action with the baking soda. So we added dish soap at this point to the vinegar and mixed with a spoon.
- Let the kids pour the vinegar into each cup of baking soda.
They can do this a few times before the fizzing stops. Our tray was full when we stopped. The tray was great for easy clean up. I trashed the little cups and then washed out the tray in the sink. It was quick and easy. This classic baking soda and vinegar science for preschoolers is always so much fun to do with the kids. Even after several years my older kids still love it just as much as my youngest. We often try finding fun ways to mix it up so it is not the exact same each time. But whether we are making apple volcanoes or just pouring vinegar on the baking soda the kids love it. I look forward to trying more experiments with the kids this year.
