Round up your supplies for this patriotic paper plate craft and let’s make it!
Instructions:
Begin this craft by cutting a paper plate in half. Paint one half of the paper plate with blue paint.
While the paint dries cut triangles from red construction paper. We cut out both small and large triangles. Younger preschoolers may need help with this if they are still learning to master scissor skills, an adult can help them by drawing out the lines of the triangles for them to follow with scissors or by cutting out the triangles for them. When the blue paint has dried, cut out the center of the plate. We generally follow the edging of the paper plate, where the plate begins to curve up or where the decorative edging begins, leaving about a 1.5 to 2 inch wide strip.
Attach a piece of elastic cord to the the bottom of each end of the paper plate crown. You can use scissors or a hole punch to make a hole then thread the elastic cord through and tie off in the back. The last step is to glue or tape the cut out triangles to the crown. Organize them on a table in the pattern you want, we alternated big and little, then attach to the crown on the backside.
